The Australian Veterans Linguist Association (AVLA) is a not-for-profit charity organisation designed to be sustainable, inclusive, and future-focused.
Here at AVLA, we aim to bring together both current and former Defence linguists to share their experience, support career development, and strengthen Australia’s broader language capability.
More than an alumni network, we are a practitioner-led association focused on community, professional growth, and cultural expertise. We foster mentorship, enable access to industry-standard training, and build bridges between Defence and the civilian language sector.
Our members will benefit from networking opportunities, professional development, cultural engagement, and other supports across both their Defence and civilian careers.
